“Any given night you never know who’s going to step up offensively,” Texas Tech coach Chris Walker said. “It just comes down to how well we’re going to do as a team and who’s going to put their body out for loose balls.”
Jordan Tolbert added nine points and 10 rebounds for the Red Raiders. Dejan Kravic had eight points, and eight rebounds. Dusty Hannahs and Kader Tapsoba also added eight points.
Jamie Adams led Florida A&M with 22 points and five steals. Reggie Lewis added 10 points .
The Red Raiders took their first lead of the game on a Toddrick Gotcher field goal, with 5:01 left in the first half, and led the rest of the way.
“We have to stop digging holes for ourselves,” Walker said of the Red Raiders habit of trailing early, “…we have talent but we have to harness that talent. It’s not about just having talent but we’ve got to work the game.”
After starting the 2012-13 season with 11 consecutive home games, the Red Raiders open Big 12 play on the road Saturday at TCU.
“Four losses, we learned from those losses,” Tolbert said. “We’ll come out Saturday and come out and play and see what happens.”
