Jaye Crockett scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Red Raiders to a 91-56 victory over Grambling State Tuesday night.
Jaye Crockett had his second consecutive double-double on Tuesday.
“Our guards are helping me a lot,” Crockett said. “They are so aggressive. They are attacking and opening up the post a lot.”
Trency Jackson added 15 points for the Red Raiders.
“I’ve never been part of a team that pressed so much like we do,” Jackson said.
The Red Raiders pressed the Tigers all game long, forcing 17 turnovers that led to 29 points.
“That is the attitude that we’re bringing,” Texas Tech coach Chris Walker said. “We’re bringing the fight to them. That is the bottom line.”
Crockett and Jordan Tolbert crashed the boards and excited the crowd with several slam dunks. Tolbert added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Red Raiders.
Jackson hit a pair of 3s early in the game to put the Red Raiders up 12-6, and Tech ran away with it after that.
“If we were down by 40, I would tell those guys to play hard until the end,” Walker said. “If we are up 30 we play hard until the end.”
Texas Tech (3-0) will host Jackson State (0-1) on Monday night.
