Trinity Valley C. C. (Texas) outside linebacker DaKorey Johnson committed to Texas Tech during his official visit in July.

DaKorey Johnson committed to Texas Tech during his official visit in July.
“When I went out there, it just really sold itself,” Johnson said.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker loves how the Lubbock community supports the Red Raiders.
“It’s crazy,” Johnson said. “All the fans live and breathe Texas Tech football. Everywhere you go you see the Double T. The fans love you out there. It’s like there is nothing out there but the football team.”
During his visit, Johnson said he spent two hours in defensive coordinator Art Kaufman’s office watching film.
“I felt like I got better just by being there,” Johnson said. “Then they showed us around the stadium and around Lubbock and I hung out with some of the guys.”
Johnson said he met linebackers Sam Eguavoen, Terrance Bullitt, and Daniel Cobb on his visit.
“They were real cool,” Johnson said. “(Bullitt)’s just a good all around player. He’s a big guy, fast and physical.”
Johnson said the 4-3 defensive scheme Tech runs is similar to his defense now, which helps him play to his strengths.
“I’m fast and I can hit,” Johnson said.
Johnson is still solid with Tech and plans to enroll in January. He will have two years to play two.

Gonna have a lot of bodies in the LB rotation following this year. I don't think there are any seniors (or at least none that play too much in meaningful time) at Tech. Maybe he gets moved to DE, but Tech has some great options there already. And then with Terrell Hartsfield coming in at DE, gotta feel good about the depth being added on D
