Neal Brown and Chad Scott interviewing at Kentucky

  • So to sum it all up, nothing will be official until Thursday or Friday, at the earliest.

I guess the part, from my source, about it being official today was wrong. Brown was officially offered today.

  • I talked to my source again. He said interest from Southern Miss (HC) interrupted talks with Kentucky (OC). He's trying to confirm rumors of Brown interviewing for Southern Miss head coaching position Thursday. My source believes if Brown is offered by Southern Miss, he takes it. If not, he ends up at Kentucky.

  • And I'm just reporting what someone closer to the Kentucky situation has told me.... I'm sitting at a desk in West Texas.

    Landon Wright

  • I seen on Southern Miss's scout page that the top two candidates are Blake Anderson and Tyrone Nix. FSU RB's coach Eddie Gran is also in the mix. Didn't say where Brown stood at. Here is a list that someone made that they got from another website

    Lousiana-Laf. OC - Jay Johnson
    UNC OC - Blake Anderson
FSU Ass. HC/Special Teams - Eddie Gran
Ok St. OC - Todd Monken
    Lousiana-Mon. HC - Todd Berry
Texas Tech OC - Neal Brown

    Thanks for sharing.

  • LA Tech head coach Sonny Dykes just agreed to become Cal's next head coach so that opens up LA Tech. I'm not sure if Brown will give Kentucky an answer before LA Tech makes a list out or not

I'm also hearing his name around that job too.

    Landon Wright

  • Landon...without all of the info coming in about different jobs, what is you gut feeling as to the end result with Neal Brown?

    Wr3ck3m

  • John Clay Lexington Hearld Leader columnist reported this morning that Neal was still very interested in coming to Lexington. He said that him and Mark Stoops are still talking but they are some sticking points but no agreement has been made

Yes I'm a UK & Texas Tech fan

That's tough to answer. I think if he's offered a head coaching job he takes it. If comes down to Kentucky OC or Tech OC then he has to weigh his options and make a decision. A lot of signs point to him leaving, but we won't know for sure until the coaching carousel is over.

    Landon Wright

  • Talked to my source again just now. Everything he's heard points to Brown leaving.

    Did he mention team?

He's talked to unnamed sources on the Tech side of things that believe he will leave. He's said Kentucky is still very much in consideration, but believes he would take a head coaching job if offered. The schools he mentioned were Kentucky and Southern Miss. He didn't say anything about Arkansas State or Lousiana Tech.

Does that mean they are not options? Not necessarily.

From what I've seen on a Southern Miss forum, Brown is a candidate but he's not one of their top candidates. He's like 4th or 5th choice. Arkansas State just named an interm head coach. LA Tech hasn't mentioned nothing about Brown. Other than that I've said all I know and heard

Maybe we'll know something before the weekend then.

The top two candidates for the Southern Miss job are Blake Anderson and Tyrone Nix. I also hear Bobby Petrino has interest but he's got interest in every available position. Jason Simpson said he was interested. I figure something would be said by tomorrow.

  • Any news this morning?

    Throw Deep

  • Rumor going around is that Neal Brown will be on Kentucky's campus this weekend to be introduced as Kentucy's OC. I have heard that he's expected to bring Chad Scott along with him and possibly another coach. No name was ever mentioned. That's just what I've heard, not sure if it's true or not. I would suspect that Brown to kentucky rumor is true after everything I've heard about the other teams that have interest in him as HC. Just not sure about the other coaches coming with him

I've heard something similar to that. Scott's been mentioned as "likely to follow" for awhile, so it wouldn't surprise me if it happens.

What all have you heard today? I seen on twitter about 3 days ago that a Kentucky WR tweeted that both Brown and Scott were coming and then today I heard that a former Kentucky player is going around saying that Brown would be on Kentucky's campus today but no one else is saying anything. It's really quite

I've heard that Brown interviewed for the Southern Miss job yesterday and there is still a solid chance he ends up at Kentucky. Will that happen? We'll see.

    Landon Wright

  • I've seen in a Southern Miss board that they want A current HC or a coach with HC experience
Arakansas State is leaning toward Bobby Petrino
LA Tech havent even heard his name mentioned for that position

  • I talked with someone who works for the Lexington Hearld Leader

LA Tech - OK State OC is front runner.

He also said it's still a good shot that Brown ends up in Lexington.

    Throw Deep

  • It's looking like it will carry over into next week.

  • What's the latest? I had a game and just now getting home from it
